Still in the dark

Its Tuesday afternoon now. Things we've done since Thursday having no power are; took Scott to the airport and didn't get lost, had a meal in Melbourne's China town in The Dragon Boat(nice but nothing to shout about). Took the Melbourne City loop free tram and learnt about the sites of the city. Watched Shriek the Third at the Village Crown cinema in the city. We recommend you go and see it. It's really funny, we had a man laughing all the way through really loud.

Sunday we just walked around the city and stop off in a Vietnamese restaurant. We had a really nice but really cheap meal.

Monday we went to the Melbourne museum. They are hosting the Great Wall of China exhibition. We spent over 4 1/2 hours in the museum. We travelled through time from the start of the battling times of the wall through to the present day. It was really interesting to find out why it was built. Then went to the human body section (not Neil's favorite section), then under the water and Aboriginal section. Great fun playing with all the try science bits.

Then to finish our day took Hannah to the Melbourne Hard Rock cafe for dinner. Then came home to still no power to the house. We have not had power since Thursday, the day we moved in. Still loving it :-)

Hi guys,

Glad that you are not only having a great time but are also getting educated as well.

I can't believe that you still don't have any electricity. I have spoken to Scott and he said that if you have any more problems you can contact him via Joanna's mobile which is 0061 4219 20610. I spoke to him briefly last night as he wanted to know if you were back in the light zone!!

I'm jealous of you going to Tazmania, but don't forget Philip Island and the march of the penguins.

Stay warm, act chilled and keep calm.

All my love as ever,
Mum xxxxxxxx

G'day Mate,

God so glad that finally got this working!!

Sounds like you are having a wicked time and I am very jealous - Tom says he can't remember promising to buy me a ticket to come and see you so it looks like I might have to sell a kidney or something!! Not much to tell from this end apart from Aileen has a new job but I am sure she will tell you all about that soon. We are all off on holiday soon too, Clare goes to Barcelona, Aileen to Cuba and us to the very sunny Lake District in July! Oh and its Aileens birthday soon so we are planning a night out at Hot Pants! Sam sends a big kiss to you both and says he misses you lots. We miss you too and make sure you keep putting on your adventures so that we can keep in touch.
Take care, loads of love Cheryl xxxxxxx

Hi Neil and Hannah

Sorry if this is a bit late, but We all hope that you had a brilliant birthday in Taz. I tried to send you a message but for some reason it would not go through. Probably water on the line!!

We are battening down the hatches waiting for the next deluge of water which is supposed to arrive on Saturday.

Meadowhall is closed because of flooding. The Parkway to Grandma's was closed from Monday to Thursday, Chesterfield was closed and it took Scott and Joanna 4.5 hours to get from the M1 at Chesterfield to my house - and I hope that Tom & Cheryl are ok as Outibridge has been flooded as well and finally, oh, there is a god after all - TESCO's in Rotherham is under water - he, he, he - I can't take mum shopping on Saturday - Deep joy!!!!!

Can't get a roofer to come and fix the roof so I may not have any ceilings left at the front of the house after the weekend - The front room one is looking decidedly dodgy at the moment so may just be finished off with the next lot of rain.

Take care, stay safe, don't worry about us here I've bought a wet suit, snortle and mask - just need the flippers and I'm sorted - it's like Glastonbury indoors!!!

Will try to phone you at the weekend.

All my love, hugs and big sloppy kisses to you both - as ever,
Mum xxxxxxxxxx
